The “Speed Up My PC” program is advertised as a product geared towards maximizing your computers efficiency regardless of your knowledge of windows. It claims to enhance CPU usage, free up memory, speed up your internet connection, and protect against system crashes. I put “Speed Up My PC” to the test on two computers, one blazingly fast, well maintained XP system and one aging Windows 98 setup. On both systems the small file size proved to be a plus, as well as not having to reboot once the program had installed. For each system I ran 3dmark 2001 SE and PCMark 2002 several times before and after installing the software, and generally played around with programs to see if there was any noticeable “Real World” before and after differences. Before we get to the results let’s look at a breakdown of what the program claims to do. .
